Description
Maintaining the Appalachian Trail by clearing fallen trees, cutting back overgrown vegetation from the sides of the Trail, and repainting trail markers (a.k.a blazes) keeps the Appalachian Trail alive. This - and so much more - is all done by volunteers!

Join the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club on Sunday, October 23 and volunteer your time towards tackling a large infestation of the non- native invasive vine, Oriental bittersweet along the Appalachian Trail in the beautiful Duke Hollow area.

No experience necessary, tools and training will be provided.

Come prepared to do battle against this problematic invasive. We will be cutting/sawing stems and (only if you are willing) daubing a little herbicide on cut stems (under the supervision of a Commercial Pesticide Applicator).

Please be sure to wear sturdy boots, long pants, and a long sleeve shirt. Bring plenty of water and snacks for the day, lunch, sunscreen, bug spray, a rain jacket and personal work gloves, as well as a mask and hand sanitizer!
